OUR FOOD AND OUR LOCAL SUPPLIERS

PRODUCTS WE'RE PROUD TO SHARE WITH OUR COMMUNITY

It's our mission to provide fairly priced products that support a sustainable regional food system, support a healthy lifestyle, and promote community partnership, education and economic vitality.

We aim to have as much local, organic, non-spray, non-gmo, produce possible. We offer many options for shoppers concerned with conventional farming practices. We allow our local vendors the ability to sell their product without the need of a booth or stand.

CHAMPLAIN ORCHRADS: eco-certified fruit and cider

Located in Shoreham, VT, Champlain Orchards is committed to growing their variety of apples and other fruits by the standards of the Eco fruit program. As can be found on their website, creating a healthy growing environment is a priority. Actions done to attain this goal include supporting local pollinators, using “biological and preventative methods” to maintain natural pest levels, and strides made at keeping both the soil and trees healthy. Simply put, our Northeastern conditions and pollinating friends are given special attention to provide what Champlain Orchards is proud to call “the freshest, best-tasting locally grown fruit!”

Here at the co-op, we (and our customers) are big fans of their apples in the fall months, delicious both fresh and as apple chips, as well as their apple cider.

NETTLE MEADOW: artisan cheeses

Nettle Meadow Farm is an animal sanctuary and cheese company in New York’s Adirondack foothills. Nettle Meadow is committed to the principles of natural and organic ingredients, well cared-for animals and carefully hand-crafted artisan cheese. Since their humble beginnings they have grown dramatically with now more than 700 goats 300 sheep and more than 30 jersey cows. They have expanded by partnering with local small-scale farmers who care for their animals and return them to the sanctuary for retirement after their productive years. The farm is well known for the extra care it gives its animals and for producing numerous award-winning varieties of bloomy rind, washed rind, and fresh cheeses. Owners Lorraine Lambiase and Sheila Flanagan began as the farm's only animal caregivers and cheesemakers and have grown it to include a dedicated team of artisan cheesemakers and experienced sanctuary and dairy caregivers. All have an amazing love of animals, hand-crafted cheese, and local history.
